“How many times has that happened to you you designed something really nice. That has has blue in it and red and the red turns brown and the blue turns well that s called color shift and whenever you go from your computer to your printer and also to a commercial printer. There s a color shift. So the ideal way is to have a chart where you can see the color and then put the number of that color into your computer.
So you basically know what you re going to get it might not look the same on the screen. But you know the end product. And that s why we created this really nice color chart there s a few colors that we represent here and it helps you a little bit to design. So let s say you like this orange here and this orange might look different on your computer then in the final print.
So what you can do is you get one of these charts. Which is free you can get them from us and you go online to print. Elf dot com. Ford slash cmyk and here you have the same chart and now you see the colors.
What they look like in fact if you look at the orange. It looks a little bit pale on my computer compared to the file a printout so don t worry when you design it with this slightly pale. Looking orange..
This is what you re going to get so now how do you know how to setup your computer you click up here into rgb. Which is your monitor to cmyk. Which is the print that commercial printer use and you get the number. Zero.
Sixty one. Seventy nine and. Zero that s represent c. Yk.
Cyan. Magenta. Yellow and k. Four.
Black so. Let me go over to my favorite program. Which photoshop and already have a color here..
But let me mix this color that we just had before which is what to be saying serial 61. My memory is terrible 79 and cyril. I believe okay i hit okay and alt backspace and now you see that orange. You can compare it from your screen to the final print and you see it looks on my screen at least it looks it looks pale.
But what you re going to get is this here. So it s really great to use this chart. Because you basically select the color you enter the value the way. I just did and what you re going to get is this now additionally.
We also created this pantone colors back here in adobe illustrator. You can select the color and up here. The white colors represent the pantone color. So you select the pantone color in your adobe illustrator program and this is the color you gonna get or you can just go ahead and use the cmyk value and it ll be the same thing so you get whatever color you pick that s the way.
It s going to look more at least as close as possible when we print. It because there s always a little color shift temperatures different color patches it happens it s it s unavoidable. It s the nature of the business..
I also would like to tell you if you want a really nice deep black don t just use a hundred percent k. Which case black. But also mix in a little bit of cyan magenta and yellow. Don t don t overdo it because otherwise the colors will have a hard time to dry.
So look at the chart and you re going to see a hundred percent kay and here we represent sixty magenta for the sorry. Sixty cyan. Forty. Magenta and sixty yellow.
You mix us all together with a hundred percent black and you get a really beautiful deep black okay and last. But not least if you have text let s say on your business card. And you would like to have the text grayish up here on the left corner. We represent on how much k you need to mix in order get that light look i recommend for a great text to use on the k.
So you don t get any color shifts and it stays nice and clean now while you re at the website. Why don t y all to check out a little bit about color space. And what it means because the human eye basically can see a lot of colors..
We can t see all the colors there s like infrared and ultraviolet which we can t see. But our color space is pretty big rgb is what you see on a monitor is more narrow certain colors. It can t be represented and what we see in print is even more narrow and you can see it in our nice little chart that we made here where you can see the human eye red green blue rgb cmyk representation also while you at it have a look at our chibi and cmyk mode. Look at this for example you have this very nice hot pink and this is what it s going to look like at least.
We re trying to mimic here when you print. It this colors here they look great on your monitor and again. They re out of the color gamut that cannot be printed. So the computer will approximate and shift out and it looks kind of quraish.
It really doesn t look as nice same with the blues. You have to watch out look at the values the way you should mix them so you get a really nice blue. I know the purple shift and if you would like to have a black and white image try to filter out all the colors and stay with only black only k. Otherwise you might get a little bit of a yellow tint or a greenish tint.
Which looks awful once it s printed you might look really nice on screen you love it but then once your print you re really shocked when you get it okay i hope you subscribe because we re gonna make a lot more nice videos for you to help your little bit along with design. Thank you very much and have a great day you ” ..
