CREWMAN WILLIAM McKENZIE
This crewmember is named as William McKenzie in [#162 and #163 Workforce] (his picture is seen on a Quarran monitor display and the computer identifies him by name - see below), although he appears in several previous episodes too. He is identified by name by Janeway in dialogue in the earlier episode [#59 Unity].
He appears in the background in several episodes, for instance:
Should the member of command division (played by Richard Sarstedt) on the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D in a number of [TNG] episodes be identified as William McKenzie? If so, then he therefore transferred to U.S.S. Voyager as a Crewman, because William McKenzie's name is established in [Voyager] e.g. in dialogue in [#59 Unity] and by a labelled picture on a Quarran personnel file in [#162 and #163 Workforce]. But such identification is not supported by dialogue or anything on screen during [TNG]. Whilst it . (See
Behind-the-scenes: MOTLEY CREW: Richard Sarstedt for his Star Trek appearances.) ould be nice to have some continuity (apart from possibly Ensign Russell ee
Behind-the-scenes: Fuss About Russell) between these two Starships and therefore the brevity of identification that a name gives (instead of always having to refer to him as "the command divison officer...etc"), it is implausible that someone with officer rank (as a member of command division can be expected to have) should seek a transfer at a lower rank and from the flagship to a smaller less prestigious vessel as Voyager, unless he was demoted for some reason and transferred to remove him from, say, the area of his transgression but by now this is becoming more and more speculative. But due to the implausibility and lack of evidence in [Voyager] that is clearly visual evidence or in the form of dialogue, this is why canon sources and therefore I myself ignore the possibility that McKenzie previously served on the Enterprise-D.
McKenzie was on board USS Voyager at Utopia Planitia, the Starfleet shipbuilding and repair facility at Mars, in early 2371. During that time, he accompanies Janeway as Admiral Patterson gives her a tour of USS Voyager on her first arrival on board her new starship command [#118 Relativity] - McKenzie is seen in the pictures below (he is not named in the episode, nor speaks).

In 2371, stardate 48658, in [#11 State of Flux], McKenzie is part of the away mission to retrieve a damaged console which seems to have have a Federation signature from a disabled Kazon-Nistrim ship. In the screenshot he is preparing a transporter pattern enhancer. |

I believe McKenzie is to the far right in the above screenshot, in Engineering when the collected "samples" turn out to be lifeforms [#12 Heroes And Demons]

McKenzie (talking to Crewman Nozawa on his right) enjoys shore leave and the hospitality of the Sikarians [#10 Prime Factors]
McKenzie enters the Bridge from the turbolift in [#15 Jetrel]:
He is seen in the messhall (carrying his meal) during the altercation between Tom Paris and Neelix in 2372, stardate 49068, in [#23 Parturition].

in the personnel lift in Engineering just before the magnetic constrictors go out of alignment (due to Jonas' sabotage) causing the plasma stream to get way too hot [#36 Investigations]

McKenzie at the reception for the Enarans at which Jor Brel proposes a toast which is interrupted by Torres rushing in and accusing the Enarans of genocide [#48 Remember]
He blows the bo'sun's whistle at the funeral of Captain Janeway in [#57 Coda] although in that story the death of Janeway and the funeral turned out to be part of an alien-induced hallucination.

![]() McKenzie at Security/Tactical in the background of the picture [#59 Unity] | In 2373, in [#59 Unity], after Paris reports that the Borg ship is powering weapons, Janeway orders McKenzie who is manning Security/Tactical (as Tuvok has only just returned from the Borg ship and not yet returned to the Bridge): "Mr McKenzie, full power to the shields. Arm all phaser banks and prepare to fire." However, McKenzie does not have to fire as the Borg cube initiates self-destruct and Voyager barely escapes being caught in the explosion. |
McKenzie attends Kes' birthday party held in Voyager's Messhall in the unrealised timeline in [#63 Before And After]. In the screenshot below the people facing the camera are, left to right, McKenzie, the boy Andrew, and Crewman Nozawa.

![]() McKenzie reports the sudden appearance of this Nyrian [#66 Displaced] |
In 2373, on stardate 50912, in [#66 Displaced], hostile Nyrians captured Voyager and crew by using a translocator device which transported one of their number onto the ship whilst transporting a Voyager crewmember off at the same time (to a prison habitat). When the Nyrians remove Tuvok from the bridge, simultaneously a Nyrian male appears in main engineering and McKenzie taps his combadge to report it. |

I would not be surprised if this crewmember's name is for MacKenzie, daughter of Michael Westmore the show's make-up supervisor. She plays Ensign Jenkins in [#119 Warhead]. However, the character is spelled "Mc" not "Mac"(Kenzie) by TOSTFF.
